ARCHELON, The Sea Turtle Rescue Center
Archelon Centre, a five-minute walk from the Palmyra Hotel, is open to visitors who are interested in the rescue and care of turtles. You will be guided around the tanks hosting hospitalized turtles, and the exhibition area. You will be given the opportunity to participate in an interactive presentation about the unique characteristics of sea turtles (Free entrance).
The Society for the Protection of Sea Turtle ARCHELON founded in 1983 and is a non-profit organization. In 1993 ARCHELON, in collaboration with the Municipality of Glyfada, created the first hospital for sea turtles in the Mediterranean. Object of the Association is to study the conservation of see turtles and their habitats and management of coastal ecosystems, important turtle nesting beaches in the country. Also, the goal of ARCHELON is the treatment of injured sea turtles and then their release.
